Choctaw (LA) Fire Department Purchases Rescue Fire Apparatus

The Choctaw Volunteer Fire Department recently saved hundreds of thousands of dollars by purchasing a used salvage and rescue truck from the Coteau Fire Protection District.It cost a little more than $15,000 to buy the truck and replace tires and decals, Choctaw Fire Chief Craig Rink said.
The 1998 E-One is being housed at the department's central station and replaces the oldest unit, a 1985 Chevrolet. Rink said a similar, new truck could cost $200,000 or more.

According to a news release, the truck was purchased with fewer than 12,000 miles and includes all LED lights, a power take-off generator, 12-foot canopies on both sides and a refrigerator.

Scotia (CA) Volunteer Fire Department Getting New Fire Apparatus

The Scotia Volunteer Fire Department's newest addition to its fire engine fleet is set to arrive Saturday and after a few hours of crew training will put on a demonstration during an open house event.
According to a Scotia Volunteer Fire Department press release, the Rosenbauer 2017 RTX Type 1 engine features a wireless controlled deck water gun on top of the engine that allows remote control of where the gun is pointing and how much water is flowing out.

Car Hits Camas (OR) Fire Apparatus Responding to Crash

A Camas-Washougal Fire Department fire truck was hit by a car after responding to a separate crash on SR 14 on Wednesday night. Officials say the fire engine responded to a one car crash around 10 p.m.
They evaluated a patient and were about to leave the scene when the engine was hit by another car driving by at a high speed. The fire engine was parked partially blocking the left lane of westbound SR 14 with emergency lights activated.

Harrisburg (PA) Fire Stations Receive Funds to Renovate Bunk Rooms

HARRISBURG, Pa. -- Some fire stations in Harrisburg are getting the opportunity to spruce up. Fire stations 1 and 2 in the city have received $250,000 in grant money to fix up their almost 40-year-old buildings, mainly their bunk rooms. The inside of Fire Station 2's bunk room had ripped wallpaper, stained carpets and are in tight quarters.
Although the funds are intended for renovations in two fire stations, the bulk of the funds will be to repair and rehab the bunk rooms in the two stations. The stations were built in 1980 and have not received any upgrades during their almost 40 year service time.
