Charles County (MD) Volunteer Fire & EMS Seeks $1.6M Bond for Two Fire Trucks

Charles County (MD) Commissioners will hold a public hearing November 29 to consider issuing a $1.6 million bond for the volunteer fire department to buy two fire trucks.

The VFD seeks to acquire a 2024 Pierce Enforcer Custom Heavy Duty Rescue Truck and 2024 Pierce Enforcer Custom Pumper Truck.

Seward County (KS) Approves Sale of Fire Truck to Liberal (KS)

The Seward County Board of County Commissioners met Monday evening and approved the sale of the 1992 Spartan 3D Fire Engine with no loose equipment to the Liberal Fire Department for the amount of $20,000, KSCBNews.com reported.

The 1992 Spartan 3D Fire Engine is no longer in service with the county department.

Palmyra (MO) Fire Protection District Looks to Relocate, Expand

The Palmyra Fire Protection District is looking to move its station to the north side of the city and build a new fire station in Taylor (MO), WGEM.com reported.

Its current location at 407 South Main Street makes it hard for firefighters to drive their trucks onto the street, the report said.

The Fire District is looking at a property near Main Street Lanes, the report said. A fire official said being closer to U.S. 61 will allow for quicker response times. They also want more space for equipment.

A fire official said the district recently bought land in Taylor (MO) to build a satellite station there. The address is 175 County Road 313.

Morgan Hill (CA) Approves $7.5M Butterfield Fire Station Plans

Morgan Hill officials recently approved conceptual designs for a new fire station on Butterfield Boulevard—a project they think will be completed by summer of 2024, MorganHillTimes.com reported

The city council at the November 2 meeting voted 5-0 to approve the conceptual design for the Butterfield Fire Station project, which will be located at 17285 Butterfield Boulevard — next to the South County courthouse complex, the report said. 

The $7.5-million project will finally bring Morgan Hill its third fire station, which has for several years been a component of City Hall’s long-term public safety and capital improvement plans, according to the report.
