Wichita Falls Fire Truck Involved in Accident

A Wichita Falls fire truck was involved in an accident while responding to another accident involving a motorcycle and a truck Friday morning in the 2700 block of Central Freeway. The fire engine was side-swipped by an 18-wheeler and it spun around, according to police officers on the scene.

Police on the scene said the motorocycle driver was taken to the hospital. Injuries did not appear to be serious.

Fire Truck Collides with Car at Intersection

Man, 70, Injured After Crashing into FW Fire Truck

Fort Worth firefighters say a 70-year-old driver was injured after crashing into one of their fire trucks early Monday morning.

Authorities said the fire truck was parked behind another emergency vehicle at the scene of a separate crash on northbound I-35W when a man driving a pickup truck collided with the fire truck.


The pickup truck driver was pinned in his vehicle after the crash. Firefighters said they rescued him and transported him to a hospital. His condition was not released.

8 Repurposed Fire Stations in NYC

At Untapped Cities, we have a particular interest in repurposed places. New York City has historically been adept at adaptive reuse, though there are plenty of examples of the city forgetting this particular skill too. In addition to NYC's repurposed banks, churches, synagogues, theaters, psychiatric asylums, and parking garages, here are eight fire stations that have been converted into great uses.

This incredible chateau-like firehouse was built by Napoleon Le Brun  at a cost of $80,000 in 1896. It was home to Engine Company 31 until 1972 when it was decommissioned by the FDNY. Fortunately, it was listed on the National Registry of Historic Places ten months before, so the structure still survives today. In 1983, DCTV and the Chinese-American Planning Council purchased the building for $400,000, and performed additional restoration work.
