Mattituck (NY) Fire District Proposes $112M Expansion

The Mattituck Fire District has its eyes on a $112 million expansion, with a bond vote planned for a yet-to-be-determined date in June, reports suffolktimes.com.

The $112 million would be approximately $180 per household assessed at $6,000, according to the report. The department plans to hold a public meeting(s) prior to the vote.

The plan is to merge three parcels for a total of 2.28 acres and expand the firehouse on Pike Street and Route 25, with further plans to relocate the historic firehouse on site and demolish the building currently used as district office, according to the report. This would require area variances.

The firehouse expansion would gross 13,260 square feet and see four pull-through truck bays, offices, and accessory spaces, with more parking spots and highway access, and possibly a fitness room, the report says.

The plans have been in the works for a few years and went to the town last year, and the next step is to adopt a resolution and hold a public meeting, the report says.

Fargo (ND) Approves $8.1M Bond Sale to Finance New Station

Fargo city officials recently approved the sale of $8.1 million bonds to finance Fire Station 8 and equip it with apparatus and relevant tools, reports gowatertown.net.

The city worked to acquire a private placement bond sale, which returned a lower interest rate on the sale of $8.1 million bonds to pay for the project, the report says.

The city last week received architectural bids for the station—which will be located on city-owned property on a to-be-determined location on 64th Avenue South—and now has the funds to get it built.
