Meet Walker (MN) Fire Department’s New Apparatus

The Walker Fire Department recently added a new truck to its fleet, reports lptv.com.

Taxpayers and community-matched funds from Sourcewell enabled the purchase, and officials say the apparatus has a top-mount enclosed pump panel area through which firefighters can run water pumps within a safe, warm area inside the apparatus.

It also has a compressed air foam system, as well as an iPad that runs the truck, according to the report.

Gulf Shores (AL) to Ponder New Fire Training Facility

Gulf Shores city council will consider a new fire training facility, a project estimated to cost $420,000, reports mynbc15.com.

The facility would include Live Fire Training, Combat Training Tower, Confined Space Training Building, Trench Rescue Apparatus, and an outdoor classroom area, according to the report.

Included in the discussion is a $69,000 contract for design services for the facility, to be built off West 36th Avenue, west of Highway 59. The department’s previous facility was recently demolished, the report says.

If approved, the project would be mostly complete by the end of 2022.

Farmington City (UT) Fire Apparatus Hit During Car Chase

A man was taken into custody after he allegedly crashed several times—including into a fire truck—while fleeing the scene of an earlier crash in Davis County, reports kutv.com.

Farmington police officials say the fiasco began around 8 p.m. on Monday after the suspect had an altercation with another man near 64 W Joy Dr. The suspect entered a vehicle, struck the other man, and fled the scene, according to the report.

During the flee, the suspect hit other vehicles, including a Farmington City Fire Department apparatus, at 75 West and 200 South. The severity of the damage was not released.

A traffic stop via the Utah Highway Patrol produced no luck, though police officials were able to implement a PIT maneuver to halt the vehicle in the area of 300 South and 75 West and arrest the culprit, the report notes.

The victim in the original crash was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, while the suspect was also taken to the hospital for treatment before his booking.

An investigation is ongoing.
