March 13, 2015 Board Meeting Update

The Washington Fire Mechanics recently held a board meeting at Camano Fire’s station 3 on Camano Island. We are now posting TSB’s via social media as they become available, but limited to a maximum of one post per week. This is a brief summary of the discussions: The conference center is secured for the upcoming annual workshop. Jim Juneau will be our keynote speaker this year and provide a class as well. Classes are starting to shape up and provide another year with even more selection for returning mechanics. Financial support has been secured from Kent Bruce to sponsor our website. Kenworth Northwest and Gray lifts will be added to the vendor show this year as well. Any interested vendors should contact a member of the board for more information. This year’s class schedule change should be a nice change of pace and allow events to flow more smoothly. The creeper event will continue, it’s NOT TOO LATE! Start building your departments record setting hot rods today, let’s attach your name to the next limitation added to our rulebook! So far one application has been received for the scholarship, so there are pretty good odds that person will go…SO APPLY NOW-more scholarships are available yet. Several bills are still in process that affect us and updates will follow as we learn more. An online store should be coming to the website soon which will allow you to purchase hats, stickers, shirts, etc. all year long. This year’s shirt will incorporate a chevron pattern logo we have adopted and a revised front logo. Patches are also in the design phase. We will also be working to compile a collection of service sheets used by local department shops that will be available online in the members section to use as samples if you are looking for comparison or ideas. A world transmission will be added to our collection of training props soon. Complete minutes will be posted on the website and the next scheduled meeting will be held at Redmond Fire Tuesday, May 14th. Please RSVP if possible if you plan on attending so we can have appropriate seating.
