The Everett Fire Department is saddened to report the passing of retired Fire Chief Doug McNall. Doug passed away on January 30, 2016.
Doug joined the Everett Fire Department in November 1962, was appointed Everett’s Fire chief in June 1980, and retired as Fire Chief following a successful career in January 1990. In what may be an unprecedented career in the fire service, Chief McNall was a prominent leader throughout his career and exemplified unselfish dedication regarding matters involving firefighters. During his meritorious service, Doug was honored to serve as President – Everett Firefighters Local 350; President – Everett Firefighters Association; President – Washington State Council of Firefighters; and President – Washington Fire Chiefs Association. Chief McNall was well known as an effective leader, planner, and gentleman who could achieve results and consensus on important issues. Doug is acknowledged as a credit to his profession.
A celebration of Doug’s life will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2016, at 11:00 a.m., New Life Church, 6830 Highland Drive, Everett. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Everett Medic One Foundation in the name of Doug McNall, 2930 Wetmore Avenue, Suite 7A, Everett 98201.
Fire service personnel are encouraged to wear Class A uniforms to the service.
