Design Work on El Paso (TX) New $11.8 Million Fire Station Begins

El Paso (TX) Fire Department is one step closer to the construction of a new $11.8 fire station with the city council approving a design contract on Tuesday (Sept. 14), according to a report published by KFOX 14.

The television station said the $553,787 design contract for Fire Station 38 was awarded to BRW Architects and local teaming partners.

The new fire station will be constructed on 10-acres of land owned by the city at the intersection of Pebble Hills Boulevard and Tim Foster Street, according to the television station, that the building will be next to the new El Paso Police Eastside Regional Command Center.

Construction on the 10,000 square foot facility, which will have a dormitory, food prep area, office area, fitness space and three apparatus bays, is expected to begin in September 2022, the TV station reported.

Fresno (CA) Fire Truck Damaged in Hit and Run Crash

A 21-year-old drive has been charged with hit and run after he allegedly struck the rear of a Fresno (CA) fire truck while it was parked at a scene on Highway 168, according to a report published by KMPH Fox26 News.

According to the television station, the driver hit the fire truck which had its emergency warning lights activated near Highway 180 and fled the scene.

Police were able to catch up with the suspect at the driver’s home, according to the report.

Dash Cam Catches Hit and Run with Fire Truck in Dayton (OH)

Dayton (OH) police released video of an apparent hit and run involving a city fire truck captured by a motorist’s dash camera, according to a report published by the Dayton Daily News.

In the video, a Dayton Fire Department aerial with lights activated attempts to make a right turn while responding to a call for service when another car tries to pass on the right, in the path of the fire truck, according to the newspaper report. There were no injuries in the collision which occurred on Sept. 7 at about 9:30 pm, the paper reported.

The police praised the individual who alerted authorities to the video which police say essentially has helped solve the case, the newspaper said.
