The Whitehall Township (PA) Bureau of Fire plans to donate a retired apparatus to a volunteer fire company in Alabama which was hit hard by a tornado, reports wfmz.com.

The Shinbone Valley (AL) Volunteer Fire Department in Delta lost all its firefighting equipment and saw its station razed by Mother Nature last spring.

Fire officials say the 1990 Mack special edition engine—which was placed out of service three years ago—will be transported to Delta.

They estimate that the apparatus would net about $4,000 at auction, had the department went that route, and that a similar engine manufactured today would cost about $650,000.

AL fire officials say additional equipment and apparatus donations have come in from other parts of PA, in addition to NJ, TN, and other places.

A $199,000 2021 International medium pumper is now in service with the Nesbit (MS) Fire Department, according to a report published by The DeSoto Times-Tribune.

Housed at Nesbit Fire Station 17, the new truck will replace an existing apparatus that is 25 years old and will help the community maintain a favorable insurance rating, the newspaper reported.

The truck, which was purchased with $90,000 from the State Rural Fire Truck Fund, is designed to specifically provide access to rural areas that might be hard to reach with full-size apparatus, according to the newspaper.

Additional funding came from the taxpayers, insurance rebates and donations, the newspaper reported.

After retiring a 1995 aerial in August, the Duluth (MN) Fire Department needs a replacement truck, according to a report published by Fox21.

The aerial became a reserve unit in 2013 and the department hopes to begin the process of looking for a replacement very soon, according to the television station. It could take as long as 18 months to take delivery of a new custom truck, the report says.

Station 4 is one of three station requiring a ladder truck due to the 97 structures containing three or more stories in that area of the city, according to the report, which added the Northland region of the community has seen an uptick in structure fires.

The New Bedford (MA) Fire Department has recently taken delivery of a $1.15 million aerial, according to a report published by Newbedfordguide.com.

The website said the new aerial, which has a 100-foot ladder, was purchased to upgrade fire protection and emergency services in the North End.

Although the new Ladder 4 won’t go into service until Thursday, it made it public debut at the city’s 9/11 remembrance on Saturday, the website reported.

The new ladder is the “New England” edition of Pierce Mfg’s, ladder truck, designed to be used on narrow streets often found in older cities, according to the report.

The new aerial is the first new ladder to be assigned to Station 8 since 1989, the website reported.
