Burlington (NC) Fire Department Responds to Vehicle Hitting Fire Station

Burlington, NC – On the afternoon of Sunday, September 5, 2021, a vehicle traveling north on Graham-Hopedale Road struck Burlington Fire Station #3 when it lost control attempting to make a turn onto Wilkins Street.

The vehicle struck a fence, the station’s heating, and air conditioning unit, as well as the station itself causing damage to the exterior wall. Fire department personnel were present inside station at the time of the accident and were unharmed. Fire department personnel then assessed the occupants for injuries, as well as the damage to the structure. The occupants and their dog were treated for non-life-threatening injuries on scene by fire department and Alamance County EMS personnel.

Damage to the structure is estimated at $15,000, which includes damage to the heating and air conditioning unit, the aforementioned fence, as well as structural damage to the wall where contact was made. The Burlington Fire Department was assisted by the Burlington Police Department and Alamance County EMS. The City of Burlington Building Maintenance Division was notified and was on scene quickly surveying the damage and ensuring the building was still safe for the fire personnel to remain in the station. The damage was substantial as noted, but will not displace fire department units or personnel, as station 3 will remain staffed with firefighters ready to respond to incidents as needed.

Hillsborough County Fire Rescue (FL) Debuts ‘Champa Bay’ Fire Apparatus

Hillsborough County Fire Rescue has debuted it’s newest fire engine which celebrates the city’s recent championship success, reports Fox 13.

A fire official posted to Facebook, “You may do a double take when you see this emergency vehicle go by – HCFR’s newest engine, Quint 9, will be impossible to miss! The new engine, AKA ‘CHAMPABAY’s Fire Truck,’ has been professionally wrapped with championship logos from the back-to-back Stanley Cup Champion Tampa Bay Lightning, the Super Bowl Champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and the American League Champion Tampa Bay Rays. All this while retaining the reflective colors and other visual safety features of a traditional fire truck. Here at HCFR, we wanted to show our pride in our CHAMPABAY community. The eye-catching Quint 9 hits the streets today, serving the residents of Hillsborough from Station 9 in Brandon, one of the busiest stations in the county.”

Fire rescue officials say they hope the truck is a point of pride and a morale boost for the more than 1,200 firefighters, paramedics and other staff.
