The Township Committee unanimously approved a bond ordinance authorizing the purchase of a new pumper fire engine, reports TAP Into Springfield.

The funds include $800,000 for original apparatus and equipment. The oldest current truck in the fleet was destroyed during the flooding from Tropical Storm Ida.

The township had $155,000 set aside to finance a new truck eventually, but a replacement was needed sooner than the township had expected. The vehicle will be ordered in November and will take about a year to arrive.

The Village of Gurnee and the Warren Waukegan Fire Protection District will celebrate the grand opening of a fire station, reports Daily Herald.

The new location is expected to improve response times. The new, 14,452-square-foot fire station will be staffed with five firefighter-paramedics, and house two ambulances and one ladder truck.

Construction of the $5.8 million Station 3 was not affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Daphne opened its newest fire station with a ribbon cutting ceremony, reports WKRG News 5.

Meanwhile, the belforest Volunteer Fire Department is working to rebuild staff from the COVID-19 pandemic. The department, which responds to emergency calls near Daphne’s new station, is down about 10 firefighters over the last year.

The Town of Oliver wants to borrow $400,000 to purchase a new pumper engine, reports Penticton Western News.

The town council will vote on whether to give final approval to borrow the money for the purchase.

The engine is expected to cost $655,931 based on a bid from HUB Fire Engines and Equipment. The Oliver Fire Protection District will provide around $328,000 towards the purchase along with the borrowed funds.
