Morrisville (NY) Fire Department Donates Fire Apparatus

The Morrisville Fire Department has retired and donated a fire engine to the Central New York Memorial Stair Climb, reports Observer-Dispatch.

The truck had served the fire department for 10 years and will now find a new home with the Utica-based organization honoring the fallen first-responders who died at the World Trade Center during the September 11 attack.

The retired truck will be replaced by funding from a FEMA grant. The new truck is expected to be brought into service in August. The fire engine is a $900,000-plus brand-new Sutphen SL75 single axle mid-mounted aerial truck from Vander Molen Fire Apparatus Sales & Service in Ballston Lake.

The new truck will provide many technology upgrades. One of the main advancements will be the new truck’s remote control operation.
