The purpose of the Fire Mechanics Section is to promote standardization of fire apparatus and equipment preventative maintenance, improve safety standards and practices, promote workshops, conferences, and seminars related to the purposes of this Section, and to promote cost savings through standardization of building and equipment purchasing and maintenance.

Wichita (KS) Fire Department Getting Funding for Fire Equipment

The Wichita City Council approved nearly $3 million to upgrade fire equipment, reports ksn.com.

The alerting systems to notify crews about an emergency are outdated. The other challenge is the equipment is different between the stations. The council also approved new equipment, including one truck, two engines, a tractor, trailer, and two wildland units.

Also approved is another $500,000 to update hoses, thermal imaging cameras, and other rescue tools.

Fire Official Escapes Serious Injury As Car Slammed into Brevard County (FL) Fire Station

A lieutenant escaped serious injury when a car crashed into a Brevard County fire station, reports Click Orlando.

The fire department posted to Twitter, “… a vehicle collided with #BCFR Station 89 in SW #PalmBay. The station Lt who was in the bed when the vehicle struck the building was not seriously injured & immediately began to assess & treat the driver.”
