Beavercreek Township (OH) Opens New $5.4 Million Fire Station

A new $5.4 million fire station is now open and providing services to Beavercreek Township (OH), according to a report published by the Dayton Daily News.

According to the newspaper report, the new station is dedicated to former fire chief Treber “Bud” Crawford, who forecasted the need for a fifth fire station back in the 1970s and encouraged township officials to buy the land upon which the new station sits.

Station 65 has accommodations for up to six firefighters at a time, but is typically staffed by three, the newspaper reported, adding that it was paid for in part by a 2019 fire and ems levy.

Construction on New Fire Station for Pentagon Might Start Next Month

Rebuilding of the Pentagon fire station destroyed during the 9/11 attacks is finally building traction and might be moving to the design phase after more than two decades, according to a report published by NBC Washington 4.

According to the television report, for the last 20 years, firefighters have had to use a temporary trailer facility for the fire station and a helipad tower that doesn’t meet national firefighter standards, according to the report.

According to the television station, the process of rebuilding the facility has been delayed several times due to unanticipated cost increases.

The new timetable for the work on the new station suggest construction will start next month with completion set for 2023, according to the television station report.

The project which is still in design phase was funded by an act of Congress in 2019, the station reported.

Whitehall Township (PA) Bureau of Fire Donating Apparatus to AL Department

The Whitehall Township (PA) Bureau of Fire plans to donate a retired apparatus to a volunteer fire company in Alabama which was hit hard by a tornado, reports wfmz.com.

The Shinbone Valley (AL) Volunteer Fire Department in Delta lost all its firefighting equipment and saw its station razed by Mother Nature last spring.

Fire officials say the 1990 Mack special edition engine—which was placed out of service three years ago—will be transported to Delta.

They estimate that the apparatus would net about $4,000 at auction, had the department went that route, and that a similar engine manufactured today would cost about $650,000.

AL fire officials say additional equipment and apparatus donations have come in from other parts of PA, in addition to NJ, TN, and other places.

Nesbit (MS) Fire Dept. Puts Medium Pumper in Service

A $199,000 2021 International medium pumper is now in service with the Nesbit (MS) Fire Department, according to a report published by The DeSoto Times-Tribune.

Housed at Nesbit Fire Station 17, the new truck will replace an existing apparatus that is 25 years old and will help the community maintain a favorable insurance rating, the newspaper reported.

The truck, which was purchased with $90,000 from the State Rural Fire Truck Fund, is designed to specifically provide access to rural areas that might be hard to reach with full-size apparatus, according to the newspaper.

Additional funding came from the taxpayers, insurance rebates and donations, the newspaper reported.
