The purpose of the Fire Mechanics Section is to promote standardization of fire apparatus and equipment preventative maintenance, improve safety standards and practices, promote workshops, conferences, and seminars related to the purposes of this Section, and to promote cost savings through standardization of building and equipment purchasing and maintenance.

Mount Olive (NC) Receives Two Fire Apparatus

The Mount Olive Fire Department has welcomed two brand new 2021 Pierce Enforcer fire engines, reports Goldsboro Daily News.

Both engines are equipped with a 1,500 GPM pump, a 1,000 gallon tank, and a 30 gallon foam system. These trucks will replace Mount Olive’s 2002 Engine 1 and their 1996 Engine 2.

The cost of both trucks was $1.2 million in a buy-one-get-two deal. Grant money through the USDA was used to help purchase both of these trucks.

Brentwood (TN) Breaks Ground on Fifth Fire Station

The Brentwood Fire and Rescue Department broke ground on a new, $9 million fire station, reports Williamson Herald.

The Brentwood Mayor and city officials joined firefighters to mark the symbolic celebration. The new, two-bay building will be two stories and 10,000 square feet. The fire station will include one front-line fire engine and one reserve apparatus.

Brentwood-based TMPartners is the architectural design firm that created the building programming, design and facility analysis.

City officials said the fire station would dramatically improve response times to the southeast quadrant of the city and adjacent areas. Staffing for the new station would be accommodated gradually through annual increases in personnel.

Woman Injured in Head-On Accident with West Chester (OH) Fire Apparatus

A woman was hospitalized following a head-on crash with a West Chester fire engine, reports Fox 19.

The fire engine attempted to swerve, but the vehicles hit head-on and the fire engine ended up in a ditch. The three firefighters immediately came to the aid of the woman who was injured.

The woman was cut out of her car and taken to the hospital. The firefighters were also taken to the hospital as a precaution.
