West Jordan (UT) Firefighters to Purchase 80-Year-Old Fire Apparatus

West Jordan firefighters have pooled their own money to buy a former fire department’s truck back, reports The City Journals.

The 80-year-old engine has been auctioned off and sat in a garage for 40 years. It was offered to West Jordan City, but there wasn’t enough interest or funding.

The fire engine is in need of repair as neither engine nor water pump work. The body has rust and peeling paint. Some of the features are made of wood and are deteriorating. The group is hoping some people will donate to their cause to fix some of the high-ticket items.

Bradley (IL) Second Fire Station Delayed

Plans to construct a 3,500-square-foot second fire station have been put on hold after estimates came in $1 million higher than expected, reports Daily Journal.

The village had anticipated costs to be in the range of $1.7 million. The bid package coordinated by PSI Inc., the project’s construction manager, instead came in at $2,737,543.

Bids were difficult to gain as many contractors are busy due to the abundance of work associated with the governmental COVID relief stimulus funding.

The village still plans to redevelop an existing 4,200-square-foot building to accommodate fire service.
