West Hartford (CT) Receives Grant for Fire Equipment

West Hartford is receiving a grant that will purchase specialized lighting equipment, reports we-ha.com.

Fire Inspector Marsha Adell applied for and received a grant from FM Global for $3,468. This is the second time the fire department has received a grant from FM Global. In 2015, a successful grant application allowed the West Hartford Fire Department to purchase smoke alarms with visual aids for residents who are deaf or hard of hearing.

FM Global contributes millions of dollars in fire prevention grants to fire service organizations worldwide that demonstrate a need for funding to impact fire prevention or mitigation efforts.

Fort Morgan VFD (AL) Exploring Fire Station

Fort Morgan Volunteer Fire Department is getting close to breaking ground on a new fire station, reports GulfCoastNewsToday.com.

The fire station is planned on a larger property that will allow for a larger fire station and the property provides direct beach access. The new building will have a day room, more space for equipment and allow for apparatus to be driven around the building instead of backing in. The building will also offer a place for emergency staging.

The current fire station is a small metal building with a few bathrooms and reaches over 100 degrees in the summer.

Sassy Bass donated a lot they owned for the new building. They are also helping the department financially with the build. The build out is estimated at $900,000.
