Oak Ridge (TN) Fire Dept. Puts New Wildland Rig in Service

The Oak Ridge, TN, Fire Department recently took delivery of a new wildland firefighting vehicle, according to a news release from the city.

The new apparatus, called Brush 1, was purchased by the city and funds from a Tennessee Emergency Management Agency $16,000 grant helped purchase equipment.

Equipped with a 300-gallon water tank and a 300-gallon-per-minute pump, it also has a bumper-mounted monitor with a remote-control joystick in the cab, the press release said.

It is built on a 2020 Dodge 5500, 4×4 cab and chassis by Anchor-Richey an emergency vehicle builder in Taylorsville, NC. It has 200 feet of booster line and $16,000 of equipment purchased with a grant from the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency.

Chelmsford (MA) Fire Dept. Set to Open New Station in October

Chelmsford (MA) has a modular fire station being built and it is hoped the building will be completed by the end of October, according to a story published by Wicked Local.com.

The two-story main building is being constructed at Triumph Modular in Littleton (MA) and progress is being monitored each week, the web site reported.

The new fire station will replace one constructed built in 1956, according to the published report.

Orange County (FL) Fire Rescue Saves Worker Trapped 70-80 Feet in the Air

Orange County (FL) Fire Rescue recently rescued a worker stuck 70 to 80 feet in the air in the bucket of a boom truck.

No injuries were reported in Orlando on the scene at 12693 East Colonial, and firefighters were waiting on a second boom truck to get access to the victim.

Salt Lake City (UT) Puts New ARFF in Service

A new firefighting apparatus is in service at the Salt Lake City (UT) as of today as the city’s fire department puts a new Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighting vehicle online.

According to a report broadcast by Fox 13, the new Rosenbauer Panther 2000 was two years in the making as Salt Lake City Fire Department personnel specified custom features for the apparatus.

The ARFF holds 3,000 gallons of water and 1,500 gallons of fire extinguishing chemicals, can pump 1,200 gallons per minute and has a high-reach extendable turret, according to Fox 31.

Salt Lake City firefighters have been training for weeks on the operations of the apparatus in preparation for today’s deployment, the TV station reported.
