9/11 Memorial Rises at Hyannis (MA) Fire Station

Lt. David Webb, a Hyannis firefighter who’s spearheading the project, said the monument is designed to remember the nearly 3,000 victims of the 2001 World Trade Center disaster, including the 500 first responders who gave their lives.

The site will also “memorialize line-of-duty deaths of Hyannis firefighters, past, present and future,” and serve as a thank-you to the local community for the new Hyannis station, Webb said.

Webb, who has been a Hyannis firefighter for 10 years, explained that “in a prior lifetime” he worked as a stonemason, a profession that has served him well, as he has taken on much of the work designing and implementing construction of the new monument.
