Buyer May Be Found for Historic Plainfield (VT) Fire Station

Town officials are considering selling a fire station built in 1914, reports The Barre Montpelier Times Argus.

The fire station has been used to store historical items for the Plainfield Historical Society for the past few decades. But the building has fallen into disrepair.

Officials have spent years trying to figure out what to do with the fire station. They have considered moving the building. Residents have expressed a desire to restore the building, but $50,000 is not available to fix the building.

A person who recently bought a building that sits next to the fire station, may be interested in buying the fire station.

No action was taken by the board, but the topic is expected to be discussed at its next meeting.

Howard County (MD) Fire Rescue enlisted SVI Refurb and SVI Trucks to tackle this one-of-a-kind refurb, pairing a refurbished Pierce Lance Flat 2-door chassis with an all-new SVI 27-foot aluminum body to create a one-of-a-kind fireground support unit, complete with Bauer mobile SCBA filling station.

The new walk-in body features an interior kitchenette, two walk-in showers, and a lavatory with toilet and sink.

Working with SVI’s refurb team, Howard County was able to equip the apparatus with existing components from a donor truck, including a 40kw generator, an air compressor, eight DOT bottles, and two high-pressure air reels.
