According to a report from VillageSoup, the Lincolnville (ME) Fire Department (LFD) received the latest addition to its truck fleer on Thursday, January 28: a Class A pumper that will be first out for structure fires and carry all rescue tools the LFD needs for accidents.

LFD Chief Don Fullington III said the department put about two years of planning in for the new truck, including building and design. The pumper took 16 months to get the LFD, partially held up by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The new rescue pumper was built on a 2020 International chassis manufactured by E-One. It is also equipped with a 1,280-gallon water tank with foam firefighting capabilities.

It was purchased at a price of $435,449 from Greenwood Emergency Vehicles of North Attleboro, Massachusetts, which has a Maine office in Brunswick.

The last truck the LFD purchased was a Pierce International Pumper Tanker in 2012. This new pumper will replace Engine 5, which has been taken out of service and is being sold to the Matinicus (ME) Fire Department.

A private group, the Lincolnville Community Foundation, provided significant financial support to the fire department; from 2013-2018, it donated a total of $275,000 to the town government’s fire truck reserve fund. The full amount was used to purchase the pumper.

According to a report from NottinghamMD.com, it was announced that the Baltimore County (MD) Fire Department’s (BCFD’s) Perry Hall station will receive a new 1,000-gallon engine this spring.

The BCFD’s Perry Hall Station #55 is one of Baltimore County’s career firefighter units.

The announcement was made by Baltimore County Councilman David Marks on Thursday. Marks has also worked with other Baltimore County fire companies in the past. He helped secure land for the White Marsh Volunteer Fire Company, supported the renovation of the Kingsville fire hall, and secured funding to add female lockers to the Fullerton fire station.

According to a report from The Daily News, the Batavia (NY) Fire Department (BFD) has town permission to begin moving into its new $3.2 million home, Fire Station No. 2, located on Stringham Drive, although the station won’t be fully operation for several weeks.

Building Inspector Dan Lang noted that the the town can now issue a certificate of occupancy conditional upon its site work, which has yet to be done, but the BFD can begin the moving-in process.

The 10,735-square-foot facility replaces a smaller building currently in use on Clinton Street Road. The new station features two drive-through bays for vehicles and equipment; a decontamination room and separate laundry room for firefighters returning from a response; a four-room dormitory for personnel use, as needed; a day room; a kitchen; and a conference room.

Computers and some other items purchased for the new station are being installed.

There is a plan to have a small “grand opening” event that will include town representatives, with a more public open house to take place as soon as it’s deemed safe to have one.
