Brentwood (TN) Approves More than $1.7M for New Fire Apparatus

Officials in Brentwood (TN), have approve the purchase of two fire engines and a pickup truck for Brentwood Fire & Rescue with a price tag of more than $1.7 million, according to an article published by the web site Brentwood Home Page.

According to the web site, the two engines will cost $1,719,445.52, and the pickup will cost and additional $40,980.

The two engines will be identical in design and one will be assigned to the Maryland Farms Station 1 and the other to a new station when it opens soon, the web site said.

One of the engines will replace a 2010 model with more than 80,000 miles on it and the pickup truck, which will be used for hydrant maintenance, hauling trailers and for limited access areas, the web site said.

One of the engines will be paid for, in part, with a state grant and the other was through general taxes in the city’s budget, the web site reported. The apparatus where purchased through a cooperative program, according to the report.

Officials Approve Purchase of Fire Apparatus for Noroton Heights Fire Department (CT)

The Board of Selectmen voted to approve the purchase of a $1.3 million fire truck, reports The Darien Times.

The plan is to purchase a new truck to replace the 1988 Mack CF ladder truck, which is the first to respond to structural calls and rescue calls. Repairs for the 1988 fire truck have proven challenging in recent years.

The new apparatus will be a 2022 model year, have a 75-foot aerial device, a 500-gallon water tank, carry an assortment of hose, hand tools, ground ladders, rope rescue equipment, and water rescue equipment.

Mountain Brook (AL) City Council Moves Forward with Fire Station Planning

The Mountain Brook City Council took another step forward in planning fire station construction, reports Village Living.

The council named the seven members of a planning sub-committee for the building. The first requirement for the sub-committee is interviewing potential architects and project managers. Once someone is hired, then the council members on the committee can help discuss what will be built into the new fire station.

The biggest challenge for the firefighters during demolition and construction will be finding a place to stay.
