Royalston is using funds from CARES (Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security) Act to purchase defibrillators, reports Athol Daily News.

The replacements were needed as the units at the town building and some of the departmental units were over a decade old. The cost was nearly $11,000.

The fire department is also working on a project to place street numbers at businesses and homes.

The Monroe Fire Department unveiled four near pumper trucks, reports Monroe News Star.

Ferrara Fire Apparatus built the trucks at a cost of approximately $2 million. All trucks were purchased using funds derived from a 10-year tax renewal for fire department capital expenditure projects.

Grosse Pointe Woods has welcomed a new fire truck that includes double mirrors, interior and exterior cameras and a 100-foot ladder, reports Grosse Pointe Woods.

The $1,071,000 fire truck is a much-needed investment for the city. The truck, manufactured by E-ONE, is equipped with upgraded technology. With camera capabilities, there should be few times when personnel will be required to climb to the top of the ladder to put out a fire.

According to a report from The Rolla Daily News, the Fort Leonard Wood (MO) Fire Department (FLWFD) will open its latest fire station, Fire Station No. 3, Building 2375, on January 22. Located on Oklahoma Avenue, the new 17,000-square-foot station will help firefighters on post meet certain time and distance response standards in the eastern parts of the cantonment area.

It is only the second new fire station Bowling said he’s seen constructed in 30 years.

FLWFD Chief Brad Bowling said the department will now be able to have trucks on scene within seven minutes. Bowling also said the station will house one engine that was moved over from Fire Station No. 1 on the west side of the cantonment area. It can also accommodate five firefighters: four during any shift and one rotated out on off days.

In addition, the new station features offices and classrooms for headquarters leadership, training, and inspection staff as well as a larger parking lot to “ease the flow of traffic.”

Headquarters and fire prevention staff eventually moved into Bldg. 625, near the corner of Iowa and Replacement avenues, but “there is no kitchen, no showers, no facilities and we are also operating there 24 hours a day,” Bowling said.

Bowling said the FLWFD tweaked some designs from buildings built by the U.S. Department of Defense to give the new station a more “homely” feel. FLWFD firefighters work a minimum of 144 hours every two weeks, making it, practically, their “second home.”
