Pleasant Prairie (WI) Adding Fire Apparatus to Fleet

Pleasant Prairie is expecting a new rescue engine this week, reports Kenosha News.

The new engine from Reliant Fire Apparatus was planned last year and the $1,129,059 price tag will come from the 2021 budget.

The new arrival will replace two older engines that will be taken out of service. In 2019, a fire study proposed an aerial engine and the soon-to-be-delivered rescue engine were listed.

The fire chief said that acquiring fire trucks with purpose-driven strategy will help lessen the number of fire trucks needed.

Pandemic Impacts Mt. Pleasant Township (PA) Fire Department Budget, Fire Equipment

Mt. Pleasant Township Fire Department is struggling after a year of lost festivals, fundraisers and fish fries, reports WPXI.com.

Chief Adam Loh estimates a loss of $50,000, roughly a year’s budget.

The Penn Hills Volunteer Fire Department is also feeling the impact and won’t be able to upgrade a fire truck.

Some of the local fire departments plan to ask for the public’s help to ensure fire equipment needs are met.

Roanoke (VA) Dedicates New Fire Station That Honors the Past

Roanoke, VA, FireEMS Department recently dedicated an opened a reconstructed Station No. 7, according to a report published by the Roanoke Times.

The original 75-year-old station had to be demolished to make way for a modern fire station, but many parts of the old building were salvaged and the style and character was preserved, the newspaper reported.

The new fire station is 16,000 square feet and has capabilities to accommodate both male and female firefighters and staff with separate bathrooms and sleeping quarters, the paper reported.

The station will house a ladder truck and a medic unit which will answer about 3,000 calls annually, said the paper.

Among the items incorporated from the 1922 fire station are bricks that line the entrance way, wooden doors from closets in the original station, a table held up with legs made from the original firefighter pole, and window frames that now serve as picture frames, according to the newspaper.

The firefighters showcases the new station with a virtual tour on its Facebook page.
