Colorado Springs (CO) Fire Apparatus Falls in Sinkhole

A water main break caused a sinkhole to open up under the Colorado Springs’ newest engine, reports KRDO.com.

The fire department posted to Facebook, “While parked in front of a reported structure fire at 4am, the Engine 10 crew suddenly felt the engine sink into the roadway. They found that a sinkhole had formed under the engine due to a water main break under the road. Thankfully, no one on the crew was injured. With only minor damage to the bumper, Engine 10 was able to get back in service by 10am. Engine 10 is the CSFD’s newest Pierce Mfg engine that went into service on January 22, 2021.”

Bullard VFD (TX) Welcomes Fire Apparatus

The Smith County Emergency Services District 2 and Bullard Volunteer Fire Department received a new fire engine and celebrated a “push-in” ceremony, reports Tyler Morning Telegraph.

The Bullard Fire Department has not received a new fire engine since 2008. The new arrival is quite a tech upgrade. The Piece PUC features a Compressed Air Foam System, 1,000 gallons of water, which is an upgrade above the 500 gallons that was carried on the previous engine.

The community has continued to grow and has already received 600 calls this year.
