Heavy-Duty Accuride International Drawer Slides Offer Life-Saving Solution for 1st In Emergency Products

SANTA FE SPRINGS, CA—Product quality is a matter of life and death for first responders who rely on 1st In Emergency Products to outfit their vehicles. Users must be able to access their gear quickly, safely and easily, and 1st In’s products need to withstand frequent use under extreme conditions.

To make it easier for first responders to do their jobs, 1st In uses only Accuride® International drawer slides in the emergency vehicle cabinets that it builds and installs in police, fire and EMS vehicles.

“Our customers need our products to work all the time, every time,” said Ryan Dodd, vice president of operations of 1st In, based in Pompton Lakes, New Jersey. “If equipment can’t be reached immediately or fails, a life can be lost.”

Dodd, also a volunteer fire chief, added, “Accuride helps us fulfill our mission by providing high-quality, dependable products that are built to last.”

1st In uses Accuride’s 9301E Enhanced Heavy-Duty and 9308E Enhanced Heavy-Duty with Lock-In & Lock-Out slides. “Our customers are extremely satisfied,” Dodd said. “With the trend of first responders carrying more and more equipment, they depend on the slides’ heavy weight capacity (up to 600 pounds), the lifetime warranty, and the 9308E model’s ability to keep drawers and other compartments closed.”

“We’re pleased to see 1st In Emergency Products’ innovative use of our products,” said Sid Kalantar, Accuride senior vice president of sales and marketing. “It demonstrates the results of our extensive investment in designing solutions to meet specific, evolving market needs.”

Rural Metro (TN) Opens New Fire Station

Rural Metro Fire Chief Jerry Harnish said the growing community in North Knoxville created the need for an additional station.

"The need to have Station 36 here has been driven by the growth in the community. A quick look at the maps shows as long as the call was along Emory Road, it's a fairly easy prospect to get here from the Halls station or the Powell station. The problem has been the growth has been so phenomenal, those engines are now so busy," Chief Harnish said.
