The purpose of the Fire Mechanics Section is to promote standardization of fire apparatus and equipment preventative maintenance, improve safety standards and practices, promote workshops, conferences, and seminars related to the purposes of this Section, and to promote cost savings through standardization of building and equipment purchasing and maintenance.

Video: Enfield (NS) Volunteer Fire Department E-ONE Cyclone® 100-Foot Platform


With 35 volunteers and two career members, the Enfield Volunteer Fire Department in Nova Scotia covers about 350 calls a year and serves a population of about 6,500. Located just outside the capital city of Halifax, the department responds to extreme weather situations both hot and very cold. Learn more in this video.

Tankers Responding to and from Fill Site at 3-Alarm Fire in Lower Providence (PA)

During this third-alarm fire in Lower Providence Township (PA), units had to switch from a municipal water system to a tanker shuttle operation because the level of the tanks that supply the hydrant system dropped to a level that was too low. This video shows the tankers responding to and from the fire scene of the fire and the fill site in Collegeville Borough, Montgomery County Pennsylvania, a six-mile round trip. Marion City (OH) Welcomes New Fire Engine

With the new purchase, the department will have four engines and a ladder truck at its disposal, he added. The old truck will join a 1990 engine that has been kept as a reserve. 

Before city council's decision over the summer, the last time a new engine was purchased for the fire department was in 2009. 

Deem said having more equipment at their disposal is critical as the department, which has three stations, does 21 runs on average each day.
