Henry County (GA) Approves New Fire Station

Henry County will spend $2.7 million on a new fire station in a fast-growing part of the south metro community that has worried about response times to emergencies. J.R. Bowman Construction will build a new Fire Station No. 8 at 975 Jodeco Road in Stockbridge after winning approval recently from the Henry County Commission.

Completion of the fire station’s design is expected to take about 120 days while construction will take about 280 days, according to documents.

Walton County (GA) Fire Apparatus Crash Injures Two Firefighters

A fire truck crashed en route to a medical call Friday morning, injuring two Walton County firefighters, officials said.

The rollover crash involving Walton County Fire Rescue Engine 12 occurred about 8:25 a.m. on Hawkins Academy Road, according to the department.

Driver Artis Johnson, 50, and firefighter Michael Murray, 21, were taken to Piedmont Walton Hospital in Monroe with moderate injuries, treated and released, the department said.

According to the Georgia State Patrol, which is investigating the crash, the fire truck was turning left “when the passenger side tires left the roadway. The driver overcorrected, crossing the center line.”

Semi-Truck Hits Hillsborough County (FL) Fire Apparatus

Firefighters responded to the arrest location because the suspect suffered minor injuries during the apprehension. The ladder truck sustained significant damage and required a heavy duty tow to remove it from the interstate.

Chula Vista (CA) Fire Apparatus Crashes, Injuring Captain

A fire truck crashed into a center divider, injuring the crew's captain, as firefighters responded to an emergency call on the rainy Interstate 805 Saturday morning. After multiple crashes were reported on the freeway, two engines from Chula Vista Fire Department were making their way to the scene to provide a traffic block," CVFD Battalion Chief Sean Lowery explained.
