A new $394,000 pumper truck was delivered to Centerville Fire Rescue on Monday, ktvo.com reported.
Within 30 minutes of its arrival, the department said the truck was dispatched to assist on a medical call, the report said.
The new top-mount pumper has a 1,250-gallon tank, 250 gallons bigger than the truck it replaces, a fire official said.
It also comes with a 20-gallon foam cell, which can blast with high or low pressure, according to the report. The foam cell is a feature the previous truck didn’t have.
The vehicle, built by South Dakota-based Rosenbauer Group, was about a year in the making, the report said.
The old truck has been running fire calls in Centerville for almost 25 years, but it’s not headed into retirement, the report said. The Moravia Fire Department is buying the truck for $42,000 to add to its fleet, according to the report.
