The purpose of the Fire Mechanics Section is to promote standardization of fire apparatus and equipment preventative maintenance, improve safety standards and practices, promote workshops, conferences, and seminars related to the purposes of this Section, and to promote cost savings through standardization of building and equipment purchasing and maintenance.

Architect Defends Proposal for Brunswick (ME) Fire Station

After discussing a report from the Fire Station Task Force on Sept. 4 about the proposed replacement for Central Fire Station, councilors heard more about the project from architect Bob Mitchell of New York-based Mitchell Associates.

Brunswick has estimated the cost of the project would be about $9 million. With land acquisition fees, the total could be $15 million.

 

Plans to replace the 99-year-old building at Town Hall Place have been in the town’s Capital Improvement Plan for more than a decade. The Fire Department also operates out of Emerson Station at 284 Bath Road.

Northern Monroe Fire Territory (IN) Gets Approval to Open Temporary Fire Station

The Monroe County Board of Zoning Appeals on Monday unanimously approved a variance request from the Northern Monroe Fire Territory to open a second fire station in Washington Township. The temporary station will be on the Poynter Sheet Metal property at 8768 N Wayport Road and will include a manufactured home for firefighters on the site along with other fire equipment and vehicles.  

Larry Wilson, county planning director, said the fire department has been granted two years at the property. If the fire department wants to remain at the site longer an extension would need to be granted by the zoning appeals board. Under county code, fire stations are only allowed in areas zoned for governmental facilities.

FEMA Awards $2.4M to Rochester Fire Department

The grant is the Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) grant, which enables local fire departments to be fully staffed. This helps local fire departments’ abilities to comply with staffing, response and operational standards established by the National Fire Protection Association. Rochester Fire Chief John Cieslik said the department is extremely thankful to be the recipient of a SAFER grant and thanked Bishop for his assistance in securing it for the department.

9/11 Memorial Fire Apparatus in Fort Smith (AR) Marks History

 

The memorial has emotional and iconic photographs plastered along the side of the truck, depicting. It also is equipped with a television screen and speakers that recount what took place on that day.
