CMC, the California-based rescue and rope access company dedicated to helping save lives and keeping people safe, recently announced that their CMC School Fall 2018 schedule will offer a broader range of rescue and rope access professional training courses, in more locations across the United States. The CMC School Fall 2018 courses will be available at strategic locations around the country to allow more individuals than ever before to enroll in courses such as Confined Space Rescue, Rope Rescue Technician I/II, Rope Rescue Technician III and Rope Access (SPRAT® Level I). The Open Enrollment calendar for 2018 courses is now open for registration here.

“Rescue professionals require hands-on training to develop the necessary skills to work safely and effectively in the field,” stated John McKently, CMC School Director & Lead Instructor. “By refreshing our courses and locations each season, we expand our reach and provide more rescue and work-at-height professionals across the nation with the training they need to do their jobs effectively.”

Continued McKently, “For the Fall 2018 season, in addition to our beginner rope rescue and confined space training courses, we’re also adding an advanced Rope Rescue Technician III and a Rope Access SPRAT® Level I class which prepare students for the SPRAT® Level I exam.”

In the early 1980s, CMC developed one of the first curriculums for teaching mountain rescue skills to public safety professionals. Their experience as a leader in the rescue equipment industry naturally led to the teaching of rescue techniques and the establishment of the CMC School.

Over the years, the CMC School has evolved to include open enrollment and contract classes on Rope Rescue, Confined Space Entry and Rescue, Trench Rescue, Structural Collapse Rescue, Tower Rescue, Tactical Rappelling, Rope Access, and other unique or difficult access or rescue situations.

Confined Space Entry and Rescue covers NFPA 1006 skills including: pre-planning, team evaluation, assessment, confined space hazards, personal protective equipment, hazard control, atmospheric monitoring, ventilation, supplied air breathing systems, communications, tripods and other high anchor points, rope systems for confined spaces and patient packaging.

Rope Rescue Technician I/II provides an intense, five-day, 40-hour training course in rope rescue fundamentals, in both high- and low-angle rescue situations. The course covers skills used in wilderness, urban, and industrial environments.

Rope Rescue Technician III is an advanced rope rescue training for the serious professional. This 40-hour class presents challenging scenarios that test your rigging skills and expand your problem-solving capabiliti

New Sugar Creek Twp. (IN) Fire Station will Allow for Faster Response Times

Begovich says the new department will replace the one on the northeast side of the township on U.S. 40. The former station was built in the 1970's, solely as a volunteer station, and didn't take into account future growth of the department or the area, he said.

The former station also featured 10-foot tall bay doors, which are too short for modern day fire apparatuses.

The new station sits about a mile and a half west of the former station at 473 S 500 W in New Palestine. This location will allow for faster response times, according to Begovich.
