Fire Apparatus Damaged in Cohoes (NY) Fire to be Evaluated

The heavily damaged Watervliet-Green Island aerial ladder truck will be evaluated Friday while city officials seek possible federal and state assistance to replace the firefighting apparatus. Fire Chief Robert Conlen said Thursday night at the City Council meeting that every key system on the ladder truck was impacted by the heavy fire that destroyed or damaged 32 buildings in downtown Cohoes on Nov.Â when winds whipped up the fire.

Fort Atkinson’s newest fire truck — Engine 101 — is expected to be in service later this week.The new engine will be used as the first truck out to the variety of emergency calls to which the Fort Atkinson Fire Department responds.

West Chester (OH) Retiring 30-Year-Old Fire Apparatus

After decades of service in the West Chester Fire Department fleet, Heavy Rescue 71 has retired. The 1984 Ford L9000 Ranger carried firefighters and specialized equipment as they responded to structure fires, car accidents, people trapped in machinery, and water and trench rescues among other emergencies for more than three decades, according to the township.
