With 24,000 square feet of space, the $4 million building will give the department room to grow in the coming decades, Fire Chief Andy Webster said.
Construction on Cool Springs’ fire station began June 2016. The building has living space, added storage, a community room for rent, a gym and a full kitchen. Iredell EMS and Iredell Rescue Squad will both add emergency vehicles to the station in the coming months, and the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office will use the building for its patrol deputies.
