Farmingdale (ME) Buys Property for New Fire Station

Farmingdale selectman Wayne Kilgore announced Wednesday night that the town has purchased a piece of property that will be the site of the town's new fire station. Kilgore said the town paid $190,000 for the nearly one-acre double lot at 571 Maine Ave.

Duncan Adds $780,000 Aerial Ladder Truck

Steve Metzer DUNCAN The Duncan Fire Department has added a new $780,000 aerial ladder truck to its inventory. The 2017 model, 75-foot aerial ladder truck Ladder 5 was ordered after action taken by the Duncan City Council in March. It was built and delivered ahead of schedule by the Sutphen Corp., headquartered in Dublin, Ohio.

Opelika Fire Department Retains Strong Insurance Services Office Public Protection Classification Rating

Officials are praising the news from the Opelika Fire Department that maintaining an insurance rating will positively affect residents' lives - and wallets. The department once again received a Class 2/2X status for its Insurance Services Office Public Protection Classification (ISO PPC), according to a release from the city of Opelika.

An ISO PPC takes multiple factors into account:

» Emergency communications systems, such facilities for staffing, training and dispatching objectives, among other things

» The fire department and its staffing, training, equipment and geographic deployment of units

» Water supply and hydrant examination
