Delays Push Back Opening of Weatherford (TX) Fire Stations

Weather and material deliveries delays have pushed back the timeframe for opening two new fire stations in Aledo and Annetta South. Despite the delays, the stations are on track to open in the fall, Emergency Services District 1 (ESD 1) Fire Chief Stephen Watson said.
The facility will be staffed by two personnel at all times with assistance from Aledo Volunteer Fire Department members, Watson said.

An engine, 3,000 gallon tanker and brush truck will also be housed at the station.

New Fire Apparatus for Blackman-Leoni Township (MI)

Blackman-Leoni Township Public Safety could very well have the newest and "coolest" firetrucks in all of Jackson County. The two 2,500-gallon built-from-scratch Rosenbauer pumper tanker trucks have been in service for two months, and have been a wonder to work with, said Blackman-Leoni Public Safety Director Mike Jester.
"These new trucks are absolutely fantastic," Jester said. "With how long they're expected to be in service, many of the guys here will retire before or alongside these beauties."

The trucks were expected to be in service earlier, but due to manufacturing recalls and minor issues, they needed to be worked on a little longer than expected before they were ready to hit the streets.

Missouri Fire Departments Moving Forward to Replace Fire Apparatus, Share Costs of Potential Fire Station Upgrades

Signaling a continued transition to dual ownership of its shared equipment, the City of Memphis and the Scotland County Rural Fire Protection Corporation recently reached an agreement in principal to split the purchase price of a fire truck to replace the city's truck that was destroyed in a traffic accident this summer.
Representatives of the City Council met with the governing board of the rural fire department as well as volunteer firemen on July 19th at the fire station to discuss plans to replace the 1974 Chevy C-65 truck while also laying the groundwork for continued cooperation for future projects, including the possibility of remodeling, expanding or replacing the fire station.

City representatives indicated that insurance coverage on the destroyed fire truck recouped roughly $20,000. The municipal fire department fund is financed in large part through personal property taxes in the city. Combined with special financial institution and utilities taxes, the average annual revenue for the fire department fund is roughly $25,000.
