Coldwater (MI) Moving Ahead on New Fire Apparatus

The Coldwater City Council is scheduled to approve a draft agreement Monday evening to finance the new aerial ladder truck for the fire department. Delivery is scheduled for early August on the $1.2 million truck, which is being purchased from Seagrave Fire Apparatus of Wisconsin.

1924 Fire Apparatus Returns to McKinney (TX) Fire Department

The McKinney Fire Department (MFD) will welcome home the return of a 1924 American La France Fire Truck, with a ceremonial procession at 9 a.m. July 29. The celebration will welcome and honor the fire truck back to its original home at the Wysong Central Fire Station and will take up permanent residency at the McKinney Fire Museum, 301 N. McDonald St.
The fire truck was purchased by the MFD in 1924 and responded to calls until the late 1960's before being sold to a lumberyard. Jack Moss, the son of Orlia Moss who was the MFD Assistant Fire Chief in the 1920-30's, frequently visited the fire station with his father and had fond memories of the fire truck. Years later, Jack found the truck, purchased it and cared for it through the years. In 2007, the Moss family donated the truck to MFD and the McKinney Economic Development Corporation granted funds for restoration in 2010 and 2013.

"It's important to preserve the legacy and historical significance this fire engine brings back to the city, the fire department and community," said MFD Chief Danny Kistner. "I know Jack and the entire Moss family are excited to see this engine returned home where it belongs."
