Hill Country 100 Club (TX) Offers Fire Apparatus Ride

The Hill Country 100 Club will offer a celebratory fire truck ride to raise money to support the families of first responders killed or injured in the line of duty.
The nonprofit group is selling tickets for a chance to win the ride-along in a Horseshoe Bay Fire Rescue engine at the community’s upcoming Fourth of July parade.

“Every membership and every donation including these raffle proceeds helps the 100 Club achieve the mission of supporting our first responders,” 100 Club spokeswoman Vicki Morris said. “The 100 Club also provides scholarships to those pursuing and qualifying for first responder (continuing education).”

Old La Salle (IL) Fire Apparatus Will Have New Home by Thanksgiving

La Salle's 1928 American-LaFrance ladder truck has been displayed for 17 years in the public works building at Second and Wright streets. It will have to wait a few more months to move into its new home near the fire station at Fifth and Sterling streets.
The city started a project last year to build a small display building on a corner lot on the south side of U.S. 6. A concrete pad has been completed.

Tieman Builders of La Salle estimates that in three weeks, the building’s frame will take shape, followed by placement of the truck inside and then garage doors. Finally, it will be bricked in, and should be finished no later than late fall, said the city’s finance director, John Duncan IV.

Dash Cam Video Shows Driver Hitting Fire Apparatus in Middletown (OH)

A Middletown fire truck was damaged when it collided with a pickup truck on University Boulevard and Central Avenue on Friday evening. Firefighters were responding to a suspected drug overdose at the nearby railroad tracks. Dash-camera video from the Middletown Fire Department shows a Chevy pickup hit engine 83 while it's making a left U-turn.
"In the process of making the turn, the second vehicle that was coming up from behind attempted to pass on the left side of the vehicle, which unfortunately struck our left front of our fire vehicle," Deputy Fire Chief Jeff Spaulding explained. "Motorists should pull over and stop to the right for all emergency vehicles."

Spaulding told WLWT that when he reviewed the video, he noticed the same Chevy did pull over and stop on the right after Middletown's ambulance and fire truck passed, but about 30 seconds later, it can see be seen approaching from behind, trying to pass on the left.
