Milpitas: New Fire Engines Approved for City Fleet

Two new fire engines are set to replace older Milpitas Fire Department pumpers by next year. The City Council on June 6 unanimously approved the purchase of two Pierce Velocity fire pumpers from Sacramento-based Golden State Fire Apparatus Inc. for an amount not to exceed $1.46 million.

The total purchase price of $1,455,176 includes a $15,000 contingency for any possible change orders, according to the city.

Frawley said the new fire engines will be ordered in July. The build time for these vehicles is approximately 12 months.

“The funding for the purchase is coming from the existing vehicle replacement fund,” he added.
