Maynard Fire Chief Anthony Stowers and the Maynard Fire Department invite residents and community members to the grand opening of the new Maynard Fire Station next month, according to a press release from the fire department.
WHEN:
2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, 2023
WHERE:
Maynard Fire Department, 30 Sudbury Street, Maynard, MA 01754
WHAT:
The public is invited to Maynard Fire Departments grand opening of the newly renovated station.
The grand opening will include a unique dedication ceremony. Department members will uncouple hoses to honor the new station, rather than cutting a ribbon.
The new headquarters is 19,500 square feet and features a modern training area, an emergency operations center, and more room for apparatus and equipment storage. The new station supports 21st century fire service, and includes numerous features to ensure the well-being of first responders. The station replaces the current headquarters on Summer Street, which exceeded its functional lifespan.
Residents and community members are encouraged to attend the grand opening and tour the new station. Refreshments will be served.
“We are excited to show our community our new and improved station,” Chief Stowers said. “I would like to thank the members of our Department for their patience during this construction and extend our appreciation to the entire community for their support – and investment – throughout the entire process. Our new station allows us more training opportunities, and more space. This allows out members to be better equipped to answer calls and keep our community safe.”
Construction on the station began in 2021 following an effort that began in 2015.
On Monday, Nov. 28, Maynard firefighters officially relocated to their new facility at 30 Sudbury St., marking the culmination of a multi-year effort to build a modern, state-of-the-art facility that will ultimately empower the department to provide the highest possible level of service to the community.
