Proctorville Gets New Pumper Truck

PROCTORVILLE, Ohio - Union Township trustees have agreed to pay for a new pumper truck for the village of Proctorville. The township agreed to take out a five-year loan at 2.25 percent to pay for the new fire truck that went into service earlier this month.

The trustees selected a bid by Advantech Service and Parts of Midvale, Ohio, for $237,868, for the 1,000-gallon pumper truck, said Gary Whitley, assistant chief of the Proctorville Community Volunteer Fire Department.

Amity Fire Company Acquires New Heavy-Duty Rescue Truck

AMITY >> When a fire company in a small community lays out three-quarters-of-a-million dollars for a single piece of firefighting equipment, it better have good reasons for doing so.

At an accident scene, especially on a busy highway, safety is an absolute must for emergency personnel, he stressed. A major feature of the new rescue truck is the placement of rescue equipment — including Jaws of Life, spreaders, cutters, cribbing, power jacks, and wood blocks — on both sides of the truck.

Fire Station #5 Breaking Ground Next Month

The City of Apopka will break ground August 9th for its first new fire station in twenty years. A public ceremony with city officials and firefighters will begin at 11 a.m. at Fire Station No. 5 at 1685 Firehouse Lane off of Jason Dwelley Parkway.

Station No. 5 will significantly improve emergency response times to the largely residential areas of northwest Apopka and also handle vehicle accidents along Wekiva Parkway and State Road 429.


Staff will include 18 firefighters – six for each of three shifts. Emergency vehicles will include a fire engine, ambulance and a rapid response squad truck that will carry equipment for vehicle accidents and other emergencies.

City of Red Deer Unveils Fire Station #3 in Lancaster

Red Deer's newest fire hall is officially up and running. Firefighters, City officials and residents celebrated the opening of the new Fire Station #3 in Lancaster on Wednesday. It replaces the existing Fire Station #3 located on 32 Street, which will now serve as Red Deer Emergency Services headquarters and the regional 9-1-1 call centre.

The new $7.5 million fire hall next to the Collicutt Centre features the standards like office space and dorm space for the Platoon Chief, as well as nine separate dorm rooms for crew members and a staff-designed kitchen and living area.


The bay can accommodate six emergency vehicles including two ambulances and four large vehicles. The turnout gear room also features an exhaust system that removes contaminated air under the lockers, ensuring dry and decontaminated gear after any emergency response.
