Winthrop (ME) Council Approves $1.8 Million Bid for Fire Station Project

The Winthrop Town Council voted unanimously this week to accept a $1.8 million bid from an Augusta construction company to build a fire station on U.S. Route 202, replacing the one that's now on Main Street. That bid, from Blane Casey Building Contractor, was lower than the $2.1 million that officials originally were expecting the project to cost, according to Fire Chief Dan Brooks.

Anonymous Donor Steps Up to Offer Million Dollars For Hallowell Fire Station | WABI TV5

Hallowell has the chance to build a new fire station if city council accepts a million dollar gift from an anonymous donor. While a meeting tomorrow night will go on as planned, allowing residents a chance to chime in about their fire department, this last minute offer could change things moving forward.

Lorain Fire Department Announces Delivery of New Pumper

The Lorain Fire Department announced the delivery of its new pumper March 16, which replaces an aging unit at Station 3 located at 3042 Grove Ave. Brandished with "South Lorain Pride" along the side, the purchase of the brand new unit has been in the works since November and costs $399,750.

Laredo Fire Department Receives New Aerial Fire Truck

The Laredo Fire Department is receiving a new piece of equipment.After 21 years a ladder truck is being replaced. There are three aerial fire trucks in the city and this new one is currently located at fire station number two but will eventually make its way to fire station number one.

Some of the features include a 107 foot long ladder, 500-gallon water tank capacity, 6-kW generator, and a 120-volt scene lighting.
