Kannapolis (NC) Looks to Replace Aging Fire Stations

KANNAPOLIS - Kannapolis officials are currently in the process of planning the construction of two Kannapolis Fire Department stations. Kannapolis City Council has approved the purchase of 2.95 acres of property at the intersection of Old Earnhardt Road and Concord Lake Road for $325,000 for the construction of a new Fire Station 3 to replace the old one currently located on Florida Avenue.
The North Carolina city of Kannapolis is moving ahead with the replacement of two aging fire stations, according to the Independent Tribune.

The new Fire Station 2 is estimated to cost $3.5 million, while $325,000 was approved for the construction of a new Fire Station 3.

Both stations cannot adequately accommodate the number of fire trucks and other fire service equipment needed to cover the demand for emergency services in the city, the report said.

The Niagara Falls Reporterwrote about plans for a new rig coming to a Niagara County fire department.

The truck is expected to be purchased by the Olcott Fire Company and in use this year, according to the report.

Hallmark Visits KS Fire Department to Ready Fire Truck Ornament

Hallmark Visits Ark City To Prepare Fire Truck Ornament 2/15/2017 All kids love a classic red fire truck. And, as it turns out, quite a lot of collectors do too. Since 1987, Hallmark's Keepsake Ornament Club has offered insider information, behind-the-scenes looks, a quarterly newsletter and a special edition members-only Dream Book-plus member-exclusive collectible ornaments and events created especially for its biggest fans.
Since 2003, Hallmark has offered a series of classic fire truck ornament, and the company recently visited the Arkansas City (KS) Fire Department to get a look at one of its classic apparatus--a restored 1932 Buick.

The Ponca City News had a report on the visit and the colorful history of the vehicle. In 2018, the Hallmark team will release a small-scale version of a 1932 Buick fire truck, the report said.

FL Fire Rescue Truck Strikes ATV

One person, an adult male, was injured and has been taken to the hospital in critical condition. Chopper4 was over the scene at 4190 NW 26th Street around 11 a.m. A Broward Sheriff’s Fire Rescue truck could be seen stopped on the street with what looked like a blue ATV under it. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
One person was critically injured when a Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue truck hit an ATV Wednesday in Lauderhill, Florida.

The driver of the ATV reportedly became wedged underneath the apparatus, according to CBS Miami. The male victim was hospitalized, apparently with internal bleeding and a broken leg.

One unidentified witness told reporters that the ATV rider did not stop at the stop sign and pulled out in front of the rescue truck.
