Flint (MI) Firefighters Give First-Hand Look Through New Thermal Cameras

Curious to see how the new thermal imaging cameras work on every Flint Fire Department engine? Watch the video above as Flint Fire Quartermaster Rico Phillips walks us through how a firefighter uses the device to see in a completely dark environment to locate heat signatures in a room.
After a successful grant from the Hundred Club of Genesee, Shiawasee and Lapeer Counties, thermal imaging cameras will now be on every Flint Fire Department engine. The $5,200 grant allowed the department to buy four thermal imaging cameras, the city said in a statement.

Thermal imaging cameras detect emitted heat and energy and are a tool firefighters use to locate where fire is at, officials said.

Baton Rogue (LA) Fire Station Gets Facelift

A well-known downtown Baton Rouge building is getting a facelift. It is the first time in over 40 years the Robert A. Bogan fire station on Government Street has received any attention. It has not been remodeled since it opened in 1975.
Assistant Chief of Special Services Scott Pertuis said the station is being remodeled in a two-part series. The exterior of the building is being renovated now, and the exterior renovation will begin once that is completed.

Open House for New Milton Fire Station

The culmination of a 10-year effort was celebrated on Saturday, with the official ribbon cutting and open house for the new Milton Fire/Rescue building .To the delight of the crowd gathered for the celebration, the ribbon was actually two sections of fire hose, which were not cut but rather uncoupled to mark the official opening of the building.
The 9,000 square foot building is located at 865 White Mountain Highway, just up the street from the 65-year-old station it will replace. The old building no longer met building and safety code. The new $2.7 million building was designed by the architectural firm of Cowan-Goudreault of Concord, and Eckman Construction of Bedford was responsible for the build.

Wilson (AR) Gets New Fire Apparatus

When it comes to fighting fires, the town of Wilson has a new weapon in its arsenal. The city posted on social media this weekend this video of its new fire truck: As we reported earlier this month, the town is expecting to grow and now they need firefighters to keep people safe.
