First of Its Kind Wildland Fire Station Opening in San Antonio (TX)

And though the threat of wildfires is not severe here in South Texas, we still get them often. A new fire station is set to open tomorrow on the city's Southside.This fire station is very unique and will bring extra protection not only to the Southside but

The station is being built to respond to recently annexed areas. It is unique for San Antonio in that it will house a wildland team at the station. The station will house several brush trucks, an engine, and EMTs. It will provide wildland fire protection not only to the city's south side, but also to South Texas.

$30 Million Available for PA Fire and Volunteer Ambulance Grant Applicants

On behalf of Governor Tom Wolf, State Fire Commissioner Tim Solobay announced Friday that $30 million in grants will be available to fire and volunteer ambulance companies who applied for the funds through the Fire Company/Volunteer Ambulance Service Grant Program.

Volunteer Emergency Medical Services will receive $3.6 million and Volunteer and Career Fire Companies will receive a total of $26.4 million in funding.

Woodside (CA) Proposed Fire Station Both Familiar and New

The familiar would be mixed with the new in a design proposed for a new fire station for the Woodside Fire Protection District at 3111 Woodside Road in Woodside.

Because the site is along a scenic corridor, a second formal review by the ASRB is necessary, as is a review by the Planning Commission. Initial plans for the station, which is located on a one-acre lot, included a basement and a second story, but to keep costs down, those extra floors were eliminated, Chief Ghiorso said. The proposed plan is less intrusive in that it's one story and resembles a residence, making it more suitable for a residential community, he said.
