Maryland Fire Department Locates First Fire Truck in Marshall Co. via Internet Search

The very first fire truck for one Marshall County Volunteer Fire Department is going back to its previous owner in Maryland after a fifteen-year search. The Maryland Volunteer Fire Department wants the truck back for sentimental reasons as it was their first truck also back in 1973.

The department purchased it that year and sold it in 1980.

But what's so amazing is how they found it after all these years.

For more than 35 years Asbury has had this 1962 model vintage fire truck and kept it in service until just four years ago but now it's heading back home to Maryland at the Huntingtown Volunteer Fire Department.

Officials there say all they knew was the truck was ultimately sold to someone who brought it to Alabama.

But lately they saw a video of the truck in a Christmas parade on the Internet on a national fire department website.

They inquired if that was the truck and turns out it was.

The Maryland Fire Department is looking to spend more than $50,000 to restore it to brand new condition.

"It will be used for parades, firemen's conventions, and so forth like that. We're hoping to have it done by April of 2017.  We have a southern Maryland's Firemen's Convention that will be held at our station.  We host it this year so we're hoping to have it done by then," said Clinton Cox Jr., Huntingtown Maryland volunteer firefighter.

Three Firefighters Hospitalized After Fire at Flint (MI) Apartments

Three firefighters were taken to Hurley Medical Center Tuesday, Nov. 22, after a large fire at Village Shores Apartments in Flint. Flint fire Chief Raymond Barton said two of the firefighters managed to escape through a balcony of an apartment, while a third firefighter escaped through a window in the back of one of three buildings at the complex, which is off Lippincott Boulevard.
"One of the firefighter's tanks, his alarm started going off," said Barton. "When he switched tanks, he went to come back in and the fire had spread, dropped down from the ceiling."

The injuries sustained by the firefighters are not believed to be life-threatening. Flames were still coming from the roof of the building hours after the initial call around 3 p.m. Nov 22.

A woman and her grandchild inside the third-floor apartment where the fire began were not injured, Barton said. Several residents watched on from their balconies as firefighters attempted to douse hot spots.

Harlem-Roscoe (WI) Fire Station Undergoes Renovations

"When the training tower was built in 2004 by the former chief, he had a vision of turning Station 3 into our training facility and planned on expansion over a period of time. This has been done in stages both in planning and budget over the past eight years I have been chief," Chief Donald Shoevlin said about the renovations.
The project started in mid-October and they are hoping to have total completion by spring.

The station, at 13974 Willowbrook Road, Roscoe, will remain in full use during the renovation.

Personnel are still working out of the station during the day and volunteers are responding to the station 24 hours a day.

The funds to complete the renovations for the station have come from planning and having a capital improvement/replacement program in the budget.
