One Hurt in Crossville (TN) Fire Apparatus Crash

A Crossville Fire Department fire engine and a passenger car were involved in a crash Wednesday night as firefighters responded to a call of smoke in a city restaurant. The extent of injuries suffered by the motorist was not known at press time. The crash occurred around 9:30 p.m.

Customers and workers were orderly evacuated from the business and no one was injured. Firefighters later determined that a belt on a heating and air conditioning unit was the cause of smoke.

As the engine left the station, it traveled north on Henry St. to Fourth St. and then east on Fourth St. As the fire engine — with lights and siren operating — traveled through the West Ave. intersection a black Hyundai passenger car also entered the intersection, resulting in the broadside crash.

The impact sent the car spinning and backwards into the Nail Society front door. The car came to rest on top of the front steps to the Fourth St. business and on top of a fire hydrant. The business was closed and no one was inside.

Second Fire Station Coming to Oak Grove (OK) Fire Protection District

A groundbreaking ceremony was held Tuesday, June 14 in northwestern Wagoner County for a second fire station for the Oak Grove Fire Protection District. The new 4,800 square foot station will be located in the 4500 block of S. 273rd E. Ave. in Broken Arrow.

Oak Grove Assistant Chief Paul Summers said the station will feature four bays. It will serve as a satellite station where firefighters can go to get equipment and respond more quickly to calls in the southern portion of their service area.

The lower half of the district lies south of 41st Street and north of 51st Street between 241st E. Ave. and the Verdigris River.

Oak Grove’s existing station, built in 1996, is located at 395 S. 273rd E. Ave. There are 30 men and women serving with the volunteer fire department.

Phoenix Ambulance Involved in Crash

Police say a driver, paramedic, and a patient were in an ambulance when it was struck by a car. PHOENIX - An ambulance carrying a patient was involved in a crash Wednesday morning in Phoenix. The ambulance was traveling north on 16th Street when it hit a car going west on Washington Street, according to Phoenix fire officials.
