Tollesboro (KY) VFD Purchases New Fire Apparatus

The Tollesboro Volunteer Fire Department has a new pumper truck to add to the department. The truck was ordered about 10 months ago through Finley Fire Equipment, out of McConnelsville (OH) according to Tollesboro VFD Assistant Fire Chief Lee Thomas.
Thomas said the truck is a 2016 Kenworth Top Mount and can pump 1,250 gallons of water a minute.

It is also a compressed air foam system truck, only the second one purchased by the department.

Thomas said the truck was purchased because the current front line pumper, a 1991 Pierce model, needed to be replaced.

According to Thomas, the department now has six trucks in the fleet.

The truck cost $315,000 and was purchased through the VFD budget.

Pelican™ Introduces LED Safety Certified Lighting Tools For Maximum Performance in Hazardous Environments

What Makes a Flashlight Safe?

One small switch-spark can cause an explosion in a dangerous area. Targeting hazardous areas, Pelican Products, Inc., the global leader in the design and advanced lighting systems, has introduced three new safety-certified lighting tools.

“For years, our lighting products have been a standard in the safety-approved flashlight market,” said Stephan Corti, President of Pelican Products’ Commercial and Government division. “By continuing to develop best-in-class, innovative products, we are providing the features that matter most to end users at an unbeatable value.”

The Pelican 2785 is a safety certified, dual-LED headlamp that delivers high performance and long run times. Offering three intensity settings (high, medium and low) it delivers up to 215 lumens of brilliant white light. It also offers a dedicated downcast LED mode that delivers illumination at a 45-degree angle for worry-free path lighting and paperwork review. Additional features include a battery status indicator, rear-mounted battery pack with a rear facing safety identification LED, IP54 dust and water ingress protection, and a dual-action switch for easy operation. Available in yellow or black, the Pelican 2785 runs on four included AA alkaline batteries.

The Pelican 3315 PL LED flashlight is engineered for use in Class I, II, III - Division 1 hazardous environments and its photoluminescent body glows in the dark, providing identification visibility in the darkest situations. The ergonomic body design provides a non-slip grip. It’s built with both comfort and safety in mind. Compact and lightweight, it measures just 6.14” and weighs a mere 6.2 ounces.

Pelican’s 3325 LED flashlight is compact, economical and provides a Class I - Division 1 hazardous location certification. Weighing in at just 6.1 ounces and measuring 6.06”, it features 160 lumens of light with 16 hours of run time. A tail switch design offers easy one-handed operation and is helmet mount friendly.  The photoluminescent shroud makes the light easy to locate in dark conditions.

Both lights are powered by three included AA batteries and feature an ingress protection level of IPX7* (CLICK HERE for testing process information), protecting against the harshest outdoor conditions. Accessory helmet mounts are available for both models.
