Flem-Rar (NJ) First Aid & Rescue Squad Plans Move

The Flemington-Raritan First Aid and Rescue Squad will be moving to a new site in the the township. It is currently at 26 Route 12 in Flemington, where it has been bursting out of its quarters with temporary structures like a tent and a trailer housing vehicles and equipment.
The new site covers slightly more than 10 acres, with some of that space restricted because high tension lines run through about a third of the property. It is at 29 Royal Road in Raritan Township, directly across from Colony Road.

Donations support the squad's operations and fund its equipment. The squad does bill for transport of a patient — at a Township Committee in February where it was named the township's primary responder, Huebscher confirmed there's an $800 transport bill. When questioned about what happens to any amount insurance doesn't cover, Huebscher said the squad is required by state law to send out three notices, but doesn't aggressively pursue payment. Funds collected help cover expenses for the squad such as payroll, insurance and maintenance.

Sundown (TX) VFD Purchases New Equipment

After receiving a $15,000 grant for rescue equipment through Texas A&M Forest Service's Rural Volunteer Fire Department Assistance Program, officials with the Sundown Volunteer Fire Department say they have purchased the equipment and will be better prepared during emergencies.
Officials say the new equipment purchased through the cost-share program includes vehicle stabilization and rescue struts, a windshield cutter and a rescue saw.

"The equipment will allow for greater safety for the rescuers and the victim," Sundown VFD Chief Cole Mulloy said. "Before we only had two-by-four and four-by-four wood blocks to use when we needed to stabilize a vehicle. Now we have the capability to lift a vehicle if necessary, to stabilize it better, and remove windshields when vehicle extraction is necessary."
