Flooding Claims North County (MO) Fire and Rescue Fire Truck and Equipment

Flooding in North St. Louis County (MO) has claimed a North County Fire and Rescue fire truck and nearly $100,000 of equipment on it, according to a report published by KMOV 4.

According to the report, the fire truck got caught in historic flooding back in late July and rose to a level where it shut the engine down. The fire department is not keen on taking a chance the apparatus will last after the flooding and is seeking replacement through government agencies and the department’s insurance company, according to the report, that also said $98,000 in loose equipment was lost due to flooding.

The report said fire departments in Ferguson and Goldstein also lost fire trucks due to flooding.

According to the report the new squad will be built on an International cab and chassis by Horton Emergency Vehicles with the old vehicle likely sold by auction.

Originally, the city had planned to put the appropriation in the 2023 budget, but that would have delayed delivery until 2024, according to the report that said the new timeline has the new squad in 2023.
