Crash Totals Reedy (WV) VFD’s Mini Pumper Truck

The Reedy (WV) Volunteer Fire Department’s rescue mini pumper truck has been totaled after a crash Wednesday, WOWKTV.com reported.

According to a fire official, the pumper truck was trying to pass a state road dump truck in the 1900 block of Middle Fork Road in Reedy when it slid off the road and down a hill, the report said. The truck then flipped over, according to the report.

According to the fire official, no one was injured in the crash, and the two occupants’ seatbelts and airbags saved their lives.

Fire truck struck by car near Xavier University (OH)

Authorities are investigating a crash Wednesday morning that involved a fire truck in Avondale near the campus of Xavier University, WLWT.com reported.

According to Cincinnati police, the fire truck was struck by a passenger vehicle at around 10:30 a.m. on Victory Parkway at the intersection of Rockdale Avenue, the report said.

Police report that no one was injured in the crash.

Buffalo (NY) Man Indicted for Allegedly Stealing and Crashing a Fire Truck

Yassin Abdikadir, 25, was arraigned Tuesday afternoon by the Erie County Court for allegedly stealing a Buffalo fire truck and crashing into parked vehicles, WGRZ.com reported.

Charges included grand larceny in the second degree, criminal possession of stolen property in the second degree, criminal mischief in the second degree, and obstructing emergency medical services. The latter charge is a misdemeanor.

Queen Creek (AZ) Fire and Medical Department Opens Two New Fire Stations

Queen Creek (AZ) Fire and Medical Department has opened two new fire stations — Station 2 and Station 5 — both designed by Perlman Architects of Arizona Inc.

Vance Gray, Queen Creek’s chief, says that several years ago the department had identified a prototype station to serve the community’s needs. “We determined by working with Perlman Architects of Arizona that a just-over 13,000 square-foot building, with three apparatus bays, and 10 dorm rooms is the model and prototype fire station that will satisfy Queen Creek well into the future,” Gray points out.

Queen Creek (AZ) Fire and Medical Department Station 2 sits in an established part of the town that is agricultural-based, so the station’s exterior was designed by Perlman Architects of Arizona to reflect the neighborhood.

Gray says the department used the prototype layout to construct Fire Station 1 in 2017 in the town’s downtown, but added a Battalion Chief’s quarters to the station. Also in 2017, the department opened Station 3, a neighborhood station that slimmed down the prototype to a two-bay station. Station 4 was completed in December of 2020, followed by Stations 2 and 5 this year, all three of them to the model prototype, he notes.

Queen Creek Station 2 has three double-deep, drive-through apparatus bays.
